Pastoral Welcome
“Shalom” is a greeting of peace.
Shalom is a peace that includes well-being and right relationship.
Shalom is an aspiration, a hope, a reality that we live into.
As co-pastors it is an honor to greet and welcome you on behalf of Shalom Mennonite Fellowship in Tucson, Arizona.
We are a multicultural, open and affirming progressive, Anabaptist, Christian community.
We acknowledge with gratitude the first peoples of this land, the Tohono O’odham and Yaqui nations.
With them, we are shaped by the resiliency of the desert and seek to honor God by turning towards practices that learn from, and care for creation.
Our days are enlivened with the vibrancy of these borderlands. We endeavor to become a sanctuary that creates space for greater shalom in the lives of the communities of migrants who cross into and through this holy place.
In worship we sing our faith, wrestle meaning from biblical texts together, and share the joys and sorrows of our lives and the world in prayer. Doing so, we lay the ground work for practicing community with one another in all three languages throughout the week.
May God grant us lives that are more and more deeply inclusive and faith-filled as we daily join God’s joy-filled journey towards justice.
May God grant us the gift of learning to know you and seeing how our ways may travel together.
